As many of you reading this newsletter know, our incredible staff helps to make the Rivers Inlet Sportsman’s Club a first class lodge for your salmon & halibut fishing adventure to the central coast of British Columbia. What you may not know, however, is that our staff have an amazing & memorable time working at the fishing lodge, & meeting guests from around the world. Frequently, Barbara is told by the fishing lodge staff that the experience working at the Sportsman’s Club has opened their eyes to what they can achieve with hard work, by paying careful attention to the job at hand, & by caring for our guests’ every need.
We have a few staff changes coming up this year because several of our employees are going on to career jobs as they have graduated from college/university, or are about to do so. We’ll miss them, but we’ve hired awesome young people to fill their shoes/boots. Here are some of the "leavers’" parting comments to Barbara: "I just wanted to take the moment to thank you for such an amazing three seasons. I am so fortunate to have had this experience and I am incredibly grateful ", "I have had such a positive learning experience working for you and your fishing lodge and I thank you so much for that".

Our guests are important in this work/learning experience too. Thanks to the guests who share their life stories with the staff, after working at the lodge for a few seasons, our staff go out into the world with a wealth of knowledge about how to succeed in life. Simon, Cathy & I are proud to have worked with our awesome staff, & wish our ‘leavers’ all the best that life has to offer.
Simon has been out & about this winter, most recently in China where there is a growing interest in salmon & halibut fishing trips as part of tours to beautiful British Columbia. This coming week, he’ll be in Toronto & is hosting a guest luncheon at Hy’s Steakhouse, Adelaide St. West, on Thursday, Feb 26. Do let us know if you are able to join him. After the trip to Toronto, Simon goes on to Long Beach, California, where he’ll be back at the Fred Hall Show being held at the Convention Center from March 4-8 (after a long absence & by special request). Please do contact him if you are able to go over to see him (cell 604-938-3677 to call or TEXT, or Email: riversinlet@hotmail.com).
Over the 30 years Barbara has owned & operated the Sportsman’s Club, she has been a donor to many charities & organizations. Her most recent donation is to ABC Hopes which is a non-profit organization devoted to individuals with Down(s) syndrome in Orange County, CA. Coming up is a fund raiser Casino Night on Saturday, Feb 28, at the Barn, Yorba Linda. Do support them if you are in the area.
Contact us today, we’d love to hear from you or send us a message on Facebook.
