Still Time To Plan A Family Fishing Adventure

Thumbs up to Mike for his first "big one". He couldn’t have done it without his "guides" Lorna & Sean!

It’s holiday time in Canada & the USA – a time when family & friends gather & rejoice that another winter is over & maybe plan some summer fun together. We just celebrated the Victoria Day long weekend here in Canada & many of our conversations turned to the lodge & fishing. With Memorial Day weekend fast approaching in the US, we know many of you will be with friends & relatives, the perfect time to plan your trip with us. It has been a mild winter here in British Columbia, which means that our docks & buildings did not sustain damage & are in great shape for another season.  There is always building & dock maintenance & various projects. However, all you need to know is that everything will be in perfect order when you arrive for your amazing fishing adventure with us.  If you have not already done so, take this opportunity to book your summer 2016 fishing trip today.  Also, if you have already booked you might want to consider a guide to enhance your experience? The guiding is filling up fast & is rarely available to book once you arrive at the lodge. If you want a guide for any part or all of your trip call/text/email Simon today so that you won’t be disappointed. 604-938-3677.
We are very grateful to all of our guests who have encouraged family, friends, business associates & acquaintances to book fishing trips with us over the years.  We often get enquiries from people who have met our guests returning from their fishing trips & proudly discuss their stories of their adventures & successful catches.  Referrals are our best source of new customers so please tell everyone who will listen about your fabulous fishing adventures at the Rivers Inlet Sportsman’s Club.
Speaking of acquaintances & friends – last year at the lodge, owner Barbara asked a guest where she lived – Hong Kong – Barbara responded that her friend from university in Vancouver went back home there & was a teacher – the guest responded that she knew this friend, Gertrude, & they went to kindergarten together in Hong Kong … Small world?
What’s happening in your world? Please contact us today. Not just to book a trip but even just to say hi and catch up. Hoping all is well.
Tight Lines, Barbara, Cathy & Simon.

Why Us?

We are often asked what makes the Rivers Inlet Sportsman’s Club the best place to come on a fishing trip for salmon & halibut?
Here is a summary of some of the main features that make us stand out as one of the best trophy fishing destinations in the world!

The Lodge:

-Years in Business – Family owned & operated for over 30 years. The Kelly Family established the lodge in 1984. Being owner operated affords our customers a very high level of service. Our attention to all the little details is what makes for a fabulous fishing adventure.
-Amazing Staff – Yet again all our staff are returning for another season. Their knowledge, experience & sincere level of care greatly adds to the level of customer service we are able to deliver.
-Direct Flights – We fly directly from Vancouver in modern Cessna Caravan seaplanes. This first-class trip takes only 90 minutes & you land right at the lodge with no delays or plane changes.
-Private fishing lodge – there is no public access to our facilities.
-Free Wi-Fi – We recommend that you try & disconnect from the outside world but it is right there at your finger tips if you want/need to stay in touch.
-Spacious Accommodations – Double occupancy rooms with a private entrance to a cedar-lined room with en-suite bathrooms & very comfortable double beds (single or triple rooms may be available on booking your trip).
-Hearty Meals – All chef prepared hearty meals are included as well as a hot late-night snack.
-Intimate Dining – Set times for dining in our cozy dining room where the round tables allow for great conversations (arrangements may be made for packed lunches or dining at other times).
-Inexpensive Alcohol – Alcoholic beverages available at liquor store prices. There is hidden savings in our wholesale bottle “self-service” alcohol purchasing system.

The Fishing:

-Trophy Sized Fish – Rivers Inlet has a unique gene pool of large trophy sized salmon. Records are made & broken each summer.
-Close to Fishing – We are minutes away from some of the most productive fishing grounds in Rivers Inlet. World famous spots like the Wall, the Dome & Kevin’s Corner where the largest Rivers Inlet chinook & coho salmon are caught.
-Well Equipped Boats – 17 ft. boats with new 40 HP Yamaha motors, radio, GPS & sounders. Our fleet has good speed & range allowing you to fish anywhere from Calvert Island off of the mouth of Rivers Inlet all the way up to the head of the Inlet.
-Tackle Options – We have many different types of tackle. You can do everything from top-water drift mooching with light tackle & bait to downriggers & hardware if you prefer to go deeper. We also have all the gear for bottom fishing for halibut & lingcod & we also have bass rods & fly-rods. All bait & tackle is included in your trip package. We have it all, you bring nothing.
-Custom Fish Processing – Our professional guides personally cut up your catch while you watch from the bar. You instruct them as to filleting & portioning etc. We then vacuum package & flash freeze you fish in our brand new state of the art blast freezer. At any time during your trip you can inspect your fish box to help keep track of your catch limits.
-Guides Available – Our basic package is self-guided. On arrival & multiple times/day we offer informative complimentary fishing & safety clinics. However, we also have Transport Canada qualified guides available at extra cost (guides are pre-booked). The 2 of you can fish with a guide in our regular fleet of 17 ft. boats or for an additional cost you can upgrade to one of our larger Boston Whalers that holds up to 3 & 4 people. Guiding can be booked for 1 day or every day of your trip (except the last day) but needs to be pre-booked as they typically sell out.

Other Extra Things We Do:

-Participation in the DFO Experimental Recreational Halibut Programme – Our guests are able to retain their halibut over 70 lbs. & the lodge pays for this not our guests.
-Fishing Licences – We prepare fishing licences from guest pre-registration forms & they are ready for you in a pouch when you arrive at the lodge (no need to go online).
-BOATsafe – We have an arrangement with Transport Canada to provide a Renter’s Checklist for guests to read & sign on arrival at the fishing lodge so that the BoatSafe Card is not needed.
Book a trip with us & experience the excellence & spirit of the Rivers Inlet Sportsman’s Club. We are truly a trip that you will judge all others by.

Guest Testimonial

I’d tagged along with my Dad & his business buddies on 2 trips to the Rivers Inlet Sportsman’s Club over the past 12 years or so. Once in the early 2000s, & again in 2014. My return to the lodge was full of remarkable recollections. Having traveled to a lot of beautiful regions of BC, the US Pacific Northwest & the prairies for work as an outdoor writer, there are times when I feel I’ve seen it all. But no other location compares to Rivers Inlet. The great fishing is only a part of it & the thrill of reeling in a catch is unlike any other experience. But the wildlife – seals, otters, eagles, orcas & whales – is really humbling, & in the setting, at all times of day & all sorts of weather, makes the experience genuinely awesome – & I’m not even a fisherman! But I guess I am now… On top of it all, you’ve got terrific food, wonderful staff, comfortable rooms & cozy beds. Dad & I talk of the Rivers Inlet trips often, & trite as it might sound, the memories are ones we’ll share for the rest of our lives. Darren D. BC Canada
