Rivers Inlet Sportsman’s Club is situated in a small bay just 10 minutes from the ‘hot’ salmon fishing spot at The Wall. There is no need to waste valuable fishing time travelling to the salmon because they almost come to us… Often we are asked what is best, guided or unguided fishing. Really, it depends on what the guests want their fishing experience to be…
Recently, Stephanie & Mark travelled from their Baja home to salmon fish for the first time. Mark has fished for many species of fish around the world but not for salmon. This is what they said after their unguided fishing trip:
“What a fantastic week we had at the Sportsman’s Club. We fished in 175-200 feet of water. The down riggers were set at 100 feet and 70 feet. Using spoons with double barbless hooks, neon green was the color the salmon hit on the most. On the last morning of our trip, were able to catch two big 24 pound Chinook salmon within 10 minutes apart. We took a beautiful slow drive back to the dock at the lodge as beauty of the Pacific Northwest came to light, we experienced seeing mama bear and club on the shore line eating seaweed, plenty of bald eagles in the trees, whales passing by and a sea otter (so cute). Arriving back at the dock and our lovely dock hand asked if everything was OK you’re back way too early, we laughed and said ‘we maxed out!”
